11-02-15

Social Studies - Today we talked about the rise of corporations in America.

Students should be working on their invention project which is due next Monday.  This project can be the creation of a new invention, or an improvement to something that already exists.  Students should bring in a model of their invention next Monday.  Please know the model does not have to be a working model, but should not be a drawing.  Also, remember to keep this very simple.  An improvement to something as simple as a hairbrush or toothbrush is fine.

Science - Today we focused on finishing our cell drawings to use as a tool to complete our cell model projects.  This project will be due Wednesday, November 11th.  Click the "HOME" page for details.

Science - Today we worked on making Plant/Animal cell comparison drawings.  The students have a cell model due Monday, November 9th.  The model can be of a plant or animal cell and should include the following organelles:

Animal cell model:  nucleus, chromosomes, cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, and vacuole.

Plant cell:  nucleus, chromosomes, cell membrane, cytoplasm, mitochondria, cell wall, chloroplasts, and vacuole.

Please do not spend a lot of money on this.  These can be made from junk around the house such as cardboard, buttons, string, etc.  If you want to make something edible you can, but it needs to be covered with a clear lid of some kind.  Foil pans with clear lids are great for that.  I have included some examples below.  If you have any questions, let me know!  Also, PLEASE DO NOT send in the project early....thanks!
